Classic Brunch Beverage

Tuesday was the last day of school and I hosted a brunch here for my ladies in the morning before the kids were out.  I wanted it to be simple, fun and celebratory.  A true kick-off to summer!  What better way to get the summer started than with Mimosas and Bloody Marys.  I set up a DIY Bloody Mary bar with my favorite fixins'.  

Now, I love a Bloody Mary almost any time of day and often opt for the Virgin Mary as well-especially if I have a busy day planned.  I love to load mine up with tons of veggies and make it super spicy!!!  

It's fun to have an excuse to get friends together and it doesn't always have to be in the evening for cocktails and dinner.  Hope this inspires you to get together with friends this summer any time of day!

DIY Shamrock Shakes

Love this time of year when shamrock shakes are all the rage.  We decided to make our own for an after school treat!  Save your trip to the drive thru.  These DIYers are super easy and so yum!

DIY Shamrock Shake

3 cups vanilla ice cream

2 cups milk

1/2 teaspoon mint extract

green food coloring until minty green

Combine in blender and top with whipped cream!  A super perfect treat for St. Patrick's Day!

Special Place

I have been looking for a ring-dish for my everyday jewelry for quite some time.  A special place that I can put my rings and earrings when I take them off at night.  I was getting tired of leaving them on the nightstand or bathroom counter and worried that they may get misplaced. 

I found a small square saucer at Pottery Barn for $3 and thought it was perfect for this purpose.  I already had the gold sharpie marker and large rhinestone.  The rest is simple-draw some polka-dots and hot glue the big ole diamond in the center. Voila!  Super easy and extremely inexpensive-Yippee!!!  Now this would make a great Valentine gift for a girlfriend or my sweet Caroline!

Hope you are staying warm.  We got more snow last night-don't think we have anywhere else to put it if we get anymore.-I feel like I'm living in an ice castle.  Spending my nights on travel websites looking to go someplace tropical.  Any ideas?????

This Little Light of Mine

Our dark winter days call for soft candle light.  I have a drawer in my kitchen that is filled with votive candles.  I must have bought a bag of 50 at some point thinking that I needed them and didn't because now I have a ton.  Covering these plain tea lights with patterned tape takes just a matter of minutes.  Perfect-cute and easy!  Bundle them in a clear bag and they make a perfect little gift for a girlfriend for Valentine's Day.

Holiday Sparkle

  

Most days I wear my hair in a pony or high messy bun.  I like the no fuss look but sometimes I'm lookin' for a wee bit of sparkle especially now with Christmas quickly approaching.  I have a few "fancy" hair pins but why pay for the tiny bit of glitz when you can diy??!!  It's super easy to dress up a few bobby pins with items from around the house or check out Michael's or Target's scrap booking section for tiny sparkles to glue on.

This is a great project for little kid helpers. You can't go wrong.  "Let's make pretty hair pins for mommy and big sister!-YES!!!"  So whether your out Christmas shopping or off to a swank holiday party you will have an easy touch of holiday sparkle.-YAY!
